Initial reports from Election 2024 suggest that Imran Khan’s PTI is emerging as the frontrunner in the race, marking a historic turn of events. Independent candidates aligned with PTI are significantly ahead of other parties, making this election one for the history books. What’s remarkable is that the entire PTI party contested the elections under their iconic symbol, the “Cricket Bat,” despite facing numerous challenges.

Imran Khan - Election 2024

The leadership of PTI finds itself in a precarious position, with some members behind bars. Even running political rallies and submitting nomination papers posed complications for PTI candidates. Adding to the turmoil, PTI founder Imran Khan was convicted in three cases just a week before the general election.

However, despite these hurdles, PTI supporters turned out in massive numbers on polling day to cast their votes. The results have left many surprised and intrigued.

In NA 71 Sialkot, PTI candidate Rehana Dar secured victory by a staggering 50,000-vote margin against PMLN candidate Khawaja Asif. Similarly, in the Gujrat Constituency, PTI candidate Qaisra Elahi is currently leading by a significant margin.

On the provincial seat PP 59, a PTI candidate clinched victory with 38,395 votes, while in NA 182, PTI candidate Awais Haider secured the seat with 107,000 votes. In Lahore, PTI appears to be leading with a considerable margin, with early reports suggesting a strong showing in NA 130, where PTI candidate Yasmin Rashid seems poised for victory while Nawaz Sharif appears to be trailing.

It’s important to note that these results are unofficial, and the final and official results will be announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan. However, there’s been a notable delay in the release of official results, with the Election Commission holding onto the data for nearly 16 hours since polling concluded.

Stay tuned as we continue to bring you updates on this evolving story.
